Affordable Doula Service

                                                 What is a DOULA?

A doula is a non-medical assistant who provides various forms of non-medical support (physical, emotional and informed choice) in the childbirth process. Based on a particular doulas training and background, the doula may offer support during prenatal care, during childbirth and/or during the postpartum period. A birth doula is a continuous care provider for labor in many settings. Thus a labor doula may attend a home birth or she might attend the pregnant woman during labor at home and continue while in transport and then complete supporting the birth at a hospital or a birth center

Doulas believe in "mothering the mother" - enabling a woman to have the most satisfying and empowered time that she can during pregnancy, birth and the early days as a new mom. This type of support also helps the whole family to relax and enjoy the experience.

Doulas can offer a wide range of comfort measures during labor - from massage to aromatherapy, to continuous reassurance, and coping techniques.

HOW A DOULA CAN MAKE YOUR BIRTH EXPERIENCE EASIER, HEALTHIER, AND MORE EMPOWERING

When you decide to include a doula on your birth team, you improve your chances of having a healthier and more empowering birth.

Dozens of research studies have conclusively shown that birth doulas not only help the mother emotionally, but also increase the chance of her having a healthier birth and newborn.

Just what has research shown? When you have a doula at the birth . . .

* It Lowers your risk of having a cesarean section, forceps delivery, or episiotomy.

* It shortens the length of labor.

* Your ability to cope with the pain improves, decreasing the possibility of needing pain medication.

* It enhances bonding and increases your likeliness to succeed with breastfeeding your newborn.

* Your relationship with your partner is likely to grow stronger.

* You're more likely to be confident in your mothering skills.

* You're more likely to view the birth experience in positive terms.

* You're more likely to see your body as strong and capable.

The research clearly proves that doulas make a big difference.
